site info

I am currently preparing/training for another big ride, this time from Vancouver through to Winnipeg (Canada). I am not taking a direct route, so it will be significantly more than the ~2200 km given by google maps.

I pick my bike up today after a full strip-down service. The forks will be getting a new cartridge installed by Cannondale next week.

I am also working on a new design (theme) for this site and porting it to the drupal CMS. I will be identifying and removing all of the gremlins that emerged when i upgraded the version of wordpress.

I will post the working concept for the new site soon, and once completed i will be updated this site with details of my rides regularly again.

EDIT (02/07/08): I will post an overview of the circus that has been getting the minor service done on my forks—when i get my bike back (over a month now)!

As you can see, i have finally managed to resolve the issues i have had with wordpress, simlinks and porting this blog across to a new (sub)domain. It just happened that wordpress 2.3 was released 5 days before i sat down to have another attempt at this, so i also upgraded from 2.0.*

Minus a few tweaks, including the as yet missing incomplete banner image - it will include a shot of my 2005 Cannondale F400 XC bike and Yakima Big Tow cargo trailer - this site is intended to be a written and visual diary of my cycle touring adventures, significant/ multi-day trail rides and back-country touring.

I hope to add reflections, descriptions and photo's from each of my rides as close to the days that i embark on them (leaching wifi at every occasion possible). For now, i will include the catalogue picture of my bike [source] and a shot of a Yakima Big Tow [source].
